Place of use: Railway station , Series: Extra, Color Two, Color One
The reconstruction of the main railway station in Plzeň represents a successful example of restoring a historic transport building, sensitively combining cultural heritage with the demands of modern travel. The project, led by the A8000 architectural studio in cooperation with SUDOP PRAHA, brought not only an architectural revitalization of the 1907 building in 2024, but also significant functional expansion and enhancement of the public space. Emphasis was placed on quality execution, clarity, and passenger comfort. A key idea of the design is also to connect the station with the city. A new feature is a restaurant with a terrace overlooking the trains, which will bring life to the previously unused area behind the station. An integral part of the reconstruction was the use of RAKO ceramic tiles, which have become a staple in many railway buildings throughout the Czech and Slovak Republics.
