Large formats in a small bathroom

Modern large tile formats can be successfully used even in a really small bathroom.

Modern large tile formats can be successfully used even in a really small bathroom. Colors are not forbidden ether. On only has to follow a few rules.

Avoid deep dark colors

A small space looks better with brighter colors, that lighten both the walls and the floor. If you feel the surface needs some revitalization, let the details show and use the colorful listels or other decorative elements. In most of the series, they are available in matching shades and patterns. The combination of larger and smaller formats in the same shade will make the space appear larger

Wall tiles in the same direction

Vertical orientation of large rectangular formats will look dynamic on the wall, whereas the horizontal orientation calms down the atmosphere. You can optically elevace a low celiling, frequent in bathrooms in blocks of flats, if you use rectangular wall tiles vertically. The space between the floor and the ceiling will appear larger.

Mosaics are decorative as well as practical elements

Suitable decorative as well as practical elements are the mosaics. Especially those in lighter colors will ideally be supplemented by large formats. In the tone-on-tone variation with the wall tiles, the mosaics can calm the bathroom down perfectly, in a different shade, on the other hand, they draw the attention. They come in useful when tiling round walls or edges, e.g. around the bath, washbasin or a brick shelf, which makes the space look and feel even cosier. In a small bathroom, it is also suitable to use listels vertically, which optically elevates the space between the floor and the ceiling and extend a lower ceiling of the apartment.

Choose a rectified pavement for the floor

For the floor, the so called rectified pavement is suitable. The rectification means grinding off the edges of a finished tile, which eliminates a natural deviations in the size of the ceramics. The rectified tiles can therefore be laid with a minimum joint of 1,5 – 2 mm and achieve a very uniform look of the floor. Thank to the rectified pavement, the laid surface look elegant and the space appear even  larger. A smaller number of joints are also easier to maintanin. The Trend series matches for example with the floor tile of the series Spirit in the format 45 x 45 cm in white or gray color. These neutral light shades can be mixed and combined with wall tiles and decorations. A suitable alternativ eis the Board series in its whole color spectrum, that matches with the particular wall tiles and decorations perfectly.

Light reflected in a mirror the right way can enlarge a small bathroom

To a small bathroom, properly placed mirrors are beneficial, as they inflate it optically. The mirrors can be placed not only above the washbasin, but they can also cover e.g. the door of a storage compartment or the bathroom door. The proper placing of the lights i salso important. It pays off to light up the places with a water surface, e.g. the bath or the washbasin. The reflections of the light animates the bathroom space. Besides that, the light properly reflected off a mirror can magnify a small bathroom unexpectedly. Choose rather frameless mirrors and always avoid placing two mirrors directly facing each other. The neverending effect that they create is not pleasant for human eyes.
