Magazine makeover

At the beginning of the story, there was a chance ...

Family bonds

If there is the established opinion, that a daughter-in-law and a mother-in-law do not get on well each other, this is not true in Brněnec u Svitav. Emilie Jedličková won our competition thank to an impulse of her daughter-in-law Lenka, who participated in the reconstruction, that took place thank to the brands RAKO and RAVAK.

At the beginning of the story, there was a chance and a set of cooking pots, that Lenka bought not long ago. The purchase included a bonus – a magazine Pěkné Bydlení (Nice living) in which she found a readers´ competition. She said to herself she would try her fortune and took some pictures of the bathroom and the lavatory at her mother´s-in-law. They did not have enough money for the reconstruction and Mrs. Jedličková was even disinclined to change nothing. Both of the ladies moved into the apartment only two years ago. She is happy in the one bedroom apartment on the first floor, the only downside efore the reconstruction were the almost 50-year-old formica partitions covered with a brick-wall wallpaper.

Priceless freedom

The area of less than 3 square meter was successfully inflated and not only optically. „Now, at least I can turn here and orientace. It is comfortable, that the washing machine, that originally was in the kachen, fitted here,“ Emilie Jedličková praised.

Even if it was only a reconstruction of two small rooms, of course, the adaptation affected the adjacent rooms in the middle of the appartment. Because the large format of the rectified pavement 60x60 cm requires a perfectly flat surface, it was necessary to flatten the floor. „We had to take off the PVC covering in the hall and the kitchen, fléten the surface and restore the PVC,“ Lenka specifies.

Trip inspiration

„I always choose useful things so I am glad, that in my bathroom as well as in my lavatory, I have my favourite beige color, that shows no drops,“ Emilie explains, why the Senso series by RAKO is ideal for her. Emilie and Lenka had the catalogues, but they rather went to a bathroom showroom MK in Brno. There, they both saw both matt and glossy wall tiles Senso, imitating the natural travertin for the first time on the floor or a bath tub and on the floor, there was the Trend pavement. They took a look at sanitary ceramics, including the shower and furniture. In the RAKO creative department, the tile-setting plan was set. The walls got seasoned wit listels, the mosaic was used as a skirting plinth for the shower bath. When Lenka decided to tile the walls all the way up to the ceiling, the tile setter, that it is not supposed to be done like that. „I insisted on that solution and I am happy, that I did not let them discourage me, because my mother-in-law likes that“ Lenka says.
