… it takes its power from the past, built on deep roots of architectural ingenuity and traditional materials of 1930s. The residence with a living area of more than 220 m² was built in 1929 by a municipality secretay Mr. Starý. A childless wealthy couple was inspired by the generosity of Italian residences.
However, during the last few decades, the residence has been used by tenants and the ravages of time did the job on its dilapidated condition. The current owners restored its timeless elegance. The outdated materials and hand-crafted technologies were replaced with progressive technologies or handwork of craft experts together with the emotion and energy both owners put into the reconstruction. The married couple are civil engineers with rich experience in construction. The personal involvement of the owners is confirmed by the perfect details of the residence, where a lot of handwork is visible. „We like natural materials. The stone imitation on the ceramic pavement Random is perfect and considering the floor heating in the whole house, it was the best choice for its great thermal conductivity.“ The formats 60 x 60 cm take turns on the floor in bathrooms with a small ceramic mosaic, that was custom made with a water jet for the entrance hall. The precise tiling including the swimming pool with floortiles and mosaic was done by the tiler Martin Lukeš, who was recommended to the owners. The RAKO SYSTEM chemical products form building were also used in the house. The use of one material with an identical design in the whole house unifies the space and adds a luxurious look to the whole interior.

Our requirement was a modern house in a garde near the city centre. After many years of searching, we finally managed to gain a crumbling functionalist residence, that had fascinated us. It was a big challenge for us to meet the modern housing requirements and to maintain the look of the house at the same time.
